I’m looking to buy a truck and I have my eye on a 79 D100 Adventurer.
I’m not replacing the Vic, but supplementing it.
I was looking at at 77 F100 last week, but that fell through because the seller wouldn't answer at all... It's still listed for sale. I would prefer a Ford, but this is a decent looking truck, I'll update tomorrow hopefully.

I don’t know much about them, but supposedly they’re pretty solid.

Cleaner than any Dodge from that era I have ever seen

That’s the thing, isn’t it? They for some reason crop up endlessly as poor people trucks, but they just. won’t. die. As consequence, most of these I’ve seen have had a zombie look to them, but just by continuing to shamble they sort of catch up numbers-wise with the 70s Fords and Chevys.

Speaking of cars that haven't died did you see the Capri got cross posted to a website a few months ago and I just found out about it yesterday. Funny how it popped up on a few websites

Yeah, I knew your car was on barnfinds and bringatrailer and some guy’s design blog, and had gotten picked up by a few other content aggregators, but I don’t know if I saw the exact one most recently. You actually rate pretty high in GIS results because so few ‘59 Capris are out there with a web presence.

Well I can't imagine many would be left. Most probably have been used as parts cars for the more expensive Continental

Of that vintage I prefer the Dodges over the Fords. ‘80 or newer I like the Fords better. I remember my uncle had a red D100 when I was little and I thought it was cool.

They’re trucks. Don’t expect anything at all and you’ll be pleased. The engines are slow-churning and lazy (not unlike your Vic) and build quality at the time was hit-and-miss. Chrysler’s first “bailout” was in 1980, signifying the overall quality of the vehicles of that era.
I’d suggest trying to find a newer Mopar if you want to head that direction. 2nd gen (89-96) Dakotas can be found cheap and are rock freakin’ solid. They’re relatively unloved so you can pick up a well-optioned unit for next to nothing. A 5.2-equipped Dakota will outperform that D100 in every aspect :)

They are good, honest work trucks. We have had a bunch in my family growing up, my brother currently has a stepside. They will do everything you ask, and if you want more, you can swap in a 440 from a motorhome easily.
